Want video blur, batch editing and 4K export?
The free BlurQ app adds video face tracking, AI background blur, batch processing, and full-resolution export — 100% offline on your phone.
How It Works
1. AI runs in your browser
When you pick a photo, a face detection model (Google's open-source MediaPipe) loads into your browser and scans the image locally, on your device's processor.
2. You choose what to hide
Tap detected faces to toggle them, pick a style — blur, pixelate, or mosaic — set the intensity, and brush over anything else, like plates or text.
3. Download — nothing was uploaded
The edited photo is assembled in your browser and saved straight to your device. No server ever sees the original or the result.
Why “No Upload” Matters
Most online blur tools work by uploading your photo to their servers, processing it there, and sending the result back. That means the unblurred original — the exact thing you're trying to protect — sits on someone else's infrastructure, subject to their retention policies and their security.
This tool takes the same approach as our mobile app: the processing comes to your photo, not the other way around. Modern browsers can run real AI models locally, so face detection and blurring happen on your machine. The photo file is opened directly in the page's memory and never transmitted. We wrote more about this philosophy in our post on blurring photos without cloud uploads.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is my photo uploaded to a server?
- No. The face detection AI and the blur effects run entirely in your browser using your device's own processor. The only network requests are for the tool's code and AI model files — your photo never leaves your device. You can verify this in your browser's network inspector: after the page loads, editing generates no uploads.
- Is this tool really free?
- Yes, with no watermark, no account, and no photo limits. It's made by the team behind the BlurQ app; the free app is how you get extras like video face blur with tracking, batch editing, background blur, and guaranteed 4K export.
- How do I blur only some faces in a group photo?
- After the automatic detection runs, every face gets an outline. Tap or click any face to toggle its blur on or off — blur the strangers, keep your friends. The downloaded photo only includes the blurs you left enabled.
- What if a face isn't detected, or I need to blur a license plate?
- Switch to the Brush mode and paint over any area — small background faces, license plates, text, screens. The brush applies the same blur, pixelate, or mosaic style at the intensity you've chosen.
