About BlurQ

Who we are

BlurQ is built by Anas Hafidi, an independent developer. There is no big company behind it — just a small operation with a specific opinion about how photo tools should work: the photo you are editing is yours, and it should never have to leave your device.

That opinion came from a simple observation. Most apps that promise to protect your privacy by blurring faces do it by uploading your unblurred photo to their servers first. We think that defeats the point, so we built the opposite: an app where all the AI — face detection, person segmentation, blurring — runs on your phone, offline.

Our mission

Privacy-first photo tools that ordinary people can actually use. Concretely, that means three commitments:

On-device, always. Photos you edit in BlurQ are processed entirely on your phone. No uploads, no cloud, no account.

Free to use. The core tools — AI face blur, background blur, manual blur — are free on iPhone (iOS 17+) and Android.

Honest advice. On our blog, we recommend competitors when they are the right tool, and we say plainly what each option is actually best at.
